Unlock Every Child’s Potential

Empowering Dyslexic Learners
to

20% of the population struggles with dyslexia, yet most lack access to the resources they need. Imagine Reading is here to change that. Together, we’re transforming classrooms, championing literacy, and creating a brighter future for every child.

Raising Awareness Through Film

Imagine Reading has partnered with the powerful new documentary, Left Behind, to support its Impact Campaign.

"Left Behind" tells the powerful story of a group of passionate mothers who unite to create the first public dyslexic school in New York City, the largest school district in the country.

Dyslexia impacts one in five children worldwide, yet while 20% of the population has this learning difference, a staggering 48% of incarcerated individuals are dyslexic. Families without financial means often lack access to essential testing and tailored curricula their children desperately need. Kareem Weaver, who heads the Education Committee for the NAACP in Oakland, CA, and a key figure in our film, calls this the defining civil rights issue of our time.

Dyslexia is not a barrier to success; many high-profile dyslexics—including 35% of entrepreneurs, filmmakers, musicians, and actors—prove that. This film emphasizes the loss of potential brilliance and showcases a group of mothers fighting for equality in our education system. We aim to spark outrage, inspire hope, and ignite a desire for action among viewers.

The Impact Campaign

Through the film, the campaign aims to raise awareness and educate audiences on the lack of public support for children with dyslexia by holding community screenings nationwide, advocating for resources in all communities, hosting screenings for legislators and policymakers, and providing toolkits for parents, advocates, and educators.

Our goal is to provide free screenings to those who need it most. Your support will help us reach that goal!

Our Story

Imagine Reading was born out of a deeply personal struggle. Founder Dan Fougere, a successful CEO and father, experienced firsthand the frustration of navigating the school system to get help for his children with dyslexia. The journey to diagnosis was long, and meaningful support from the schools came even later. Determined to turn his family’s challenges into a catalyst for change, Dan applied his business acumen to a new mission: creating opportunities for all children with dyslexia to succeed.

Our Mission

We are dedicated to ensuring that every child struggling with dyslexia in the public school system gets the support they need. Our goal is to transform schools into places where students with dyslexia are identified early, supported effectively, and empowered to thrive academically and beyond.
